Devin Wana

Devin Kirk Wana, 49, of Kailua-Kona, died July 22, 2019, in Kailua-Kona. Born June 23, 1970, in Hilo, he was a security officer at Kona Airport.

Private services will be held.

He is survived by wife, Lily; son Isaiah Wana; daughter, Alexis Wana; mother, Mabel Anderson of Hilo; brothers, Samson Wana Jr. of Hilo; Walter (Aimee) Wana of Hilo; Dana (Maile Moresh) Wana of Hilo; and Aaron (Roxcie) Carvalho of Kauai.

Steven Green

Steven Timothy Green, 72, of Kailua-Kona, died July 19, 2019, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born May 19, 1947, in Lancaster, Ohio, he was a retired Sacramento County firefighter.

Private service held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.

He is survived by wife, Kimberly Green of Kailua-Kona; hanai daughter, Cassie (Elias) Guevara; hanai son, James (Heidi) Petersen all of Utah; five grandchildren, numerous friends, nieces and nephews.

Robert Keliihoomalu Jr.

Robert Pookapu Keliihoomalu Jr., 81, of Hilo, died July 6, 2019, in Kahului, Maui. Born Jan. 19, 1938 in Hilo, he served in the U.S. Army, was a chef, able seaman in Merchant Marines, and a seaman with Hawaiian Tug and Barge and Young Brothers.

Services to be held on Aug. 1 at Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo, 570 Kinoole St., in Hilo. Visitation at 5p.m., service at 6:30. Burial at 9 a.m. Aug. 2 at Veterans 2, 110 Laimana St., in Hilo.

He is survived by brothers, Francis (Sandra) Kahoohalahala, Charles (Marion) Moody; sisters, Thelma Kamekona, Lei Barr, Lani (Jim) Puzey, Pualani (Wyatt) Gull; hanai brother Herbert Moke; hanai sisters, Sandra (Bobby) Lee, Theresa Sharon Becktel; numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Jayne Applebury

Jayne Gwendolyn Subica Applebury, 76, of Hilo, died July 9, 2019, at the Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Olaa, she was a retired hair stylist and owner of various beauty salons and worked for the well known Ben &Company.

Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Aug. 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; celebration of life will begin at 10. Casual attire.

She is survived by son, Troy DeVera of Hilo, Desmond (Robin) Matsumura of Paauilo; daughters, Joy Hunter of Phoenix, Arizona, Jodi (Marcos) Ellazar of Hilo, Dawn (Alan) DeVera-Bondaug of Hilo, Darlene (Glenn) Matsushita of Paauilo, Dodie (Byron) Thomas of Haina; brothers, Wayne (Evan) Subica of Hilo, Danny Subica of Santa Barbara, California; sister, Jan Mahuna of Hilo; 22 Grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty Nutt

Betty Lou Nutt, 99, of Mountain View, died July 18, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 21, 1920, in New Kensington, PA, she was a social worker and a preschool teacher.

She is survived by daughter, Kimberly Bright of Mountain View; brother, Joseph Finch of Wilmington, DE; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

Paul Hiilei

Paul Ikaika Hiilei, 26, of Hilo, died June 11, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 8, 1992, in Hilo, he was a landscaper, tree climber/cutter, hard worker in many trades and member of Kalapana Maunakea Church.

Friends may call at noon Aug. 3 at the Kalapana Maunakea First Hawaiian Congregational Church in Nanawale for a celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn and no alcohol please.

He is survived by sons, Paul Quintos Maikui-Hiilei, Kekoa Quintos Maikui-Hiilei; father, Don Hiilei; mother, Lehua (Kanak Kanakamaikai) Hiilei; adopted parents, Lehua Werner, Leilani (Kris) Kealoha; siblings, Tiare (Josh Nelson) Canon, Keone Hiilei, Tyreen (Jake Iopa) Hiilei, Buddy (Ivory) Ah Nee, Shanny (Reggie) Manners, Keola Werner-Kealoha, Kanani Werner-Kealoha; many hanai siblings; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Alaysha Fujiyama

Alaysha Nohelani Fujiyama, 21, of Keaau, died June 17, 2019, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Sept. 7, 1997, in Hilo, she was a homemaker.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Aug. 1 at New Hope Church in Hilo, 840 Kupulau Road, for a 6 p.m. celebration of life. Friends may again call at 9 a.m. Aug. 2 at Homelani Memorial Park Ilima Section for a graveside urn committal service. The family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by children, Jacob Jr. and Dalton Ribordy of Keaau; father, Wayne Fujiyama of Keaau; mother, Natalie Ragocos of Hilo; brothers, Austin (Jensen Figaroa) Fujiyama of Maui, Avery (Leslie Quinones) Fujiyama of Yuma, Ariz.; sister, Aaliyah Fujiyama of Hilo; paternal grandparents, Archibald and Mellowdy Fujiyama of Keaau; maternal grandfather, Carlito (Mary Ann Vasquez) Ragocos of Hilo; maternal grandmother, Patricia (Michael) Riviera of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jody Theriot

Jody JoAnn Andrade Theriot, 68, of Denver, Colorado, and formerly of Ahualoa, died April 18 in Denver, Colorado. Born in Papaaloa, she taught kindergarten to adult education.

Friends may call 11-noon Aug. 3 at her residence in Ahualoa (46-1122 Kinimaka Rd.) with a burial ceremony to follow. Call John Andrade at 960-0095 for more information.

Roger Kinney

Roger Kahukoo Kinney, 70, of Waimea, died July 12, 2019, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. He was born in Kapaau.

No services. Scattering of his ashes will take place at a later date.

He is survived by brother, Robbins Kinney of Waimea; numerous nieces and nephews.
